DIY Kids craft Tomte Gnomes

With Christmas fast approaching I love nothing more than getting together with my kids and make some memories with some homemade crafting.

Ever year we collect Christmas Gnome (Tomte/ Niesse) and thought this year we could make a family of our own to take pride and place under the Christmas tree this year.

It is a fun and easy project kid

Kids from 3 to 12 can enjoy. I know my kids had a great time making them and were so pleased with themselves when they were done.

All you need are few simple supplies which you may already have at home (I did and didn't even have to purchase anything to make these cutie holiday gnomes).

Supplies required
1. At least two different colours of felt
2. Quick drying clear craft glue
3. Wool
4. Fur
5. Wooden bead
6. Tiny tiny pom pom
7. Toilet roll (empty)

All you need to do is get your supplies together and start crafting.

First cut some felt to cover your toilet roll and glue

Next cut fur for beard and glue to top of toilet roll.

If you are making a girl cut wool into three strips, Plait, and then glue to top of roll ensuring it is long enough to hang down side.

If creating a boy, cut small piece of fur and stick to top of toilet roll for hair piece (as below)

Next we create the hat which is a large triangle. Cut hat to length required and glue down edge.

One hat is dry place on top of toilet roll and glue to back.

Place head wear it should be and glue front of hat to head.

Now to complete the body. Cut 4 x strips for arms and legs and glue on (legs on inside front of roll, and arms onto sides of roll where hat meets)

To finish off all you need to do is cut some gloves and boots. Glue on. Add a pom pom and your done !!

It's that easy. Why don't you make one this year with your kids and after they have dried have some fun  using them as finger puppets ! We had a great laugh playing with these and can't wait to get the tree out to put them under this Xmas!
