Boho Kids DIY Feather Crown - How to make your own !

Nothing is cuter than glitter and feathers, so when my daughter asked me to make her a boho crown I knew it would turn out adorable.

I chose to make it as simple and easy as possible with no sewing, and it took no longer than 15 minutes (including drying time) to complete.

With a few simple items which can be found at any local craft or dollar store, This festival boho inspired feather crown will cost you less than $10.00

What's needed
3 x sheet of felt in your colour choice
(Or 1 x felt sheet for crown base and 1 x pkt of rose felt embellishments)
1 x foam glitter sheet
1 x pkt white feathers
1 x roll of ribbon
1 x tube of glitter paint

If you have decided to create these roses yourself but don't know how you can click HERE to be shown.

Once your roses have been made or alternatively if you have decided to purchase some felt embellishments the next step is to make your feathers fancy.

Get out your glitter paint.
Taper off the top of each feather with tape.
Paint on the top part of feather with brush and wait for them to dry.

Now measure your child's crown and cut a length of felt x 2 for the crown base, (I chose to create this in white) And cut into a strip approx 5cm in width And approx 20cm length.

Now all you need to do is place the feathers on top of your felt base strip in a design you like best.

Template guide can be found HERE

Using cheap fast drying clear craft glue, spread the glue onto the felt base and place the feathers in the pattern prefered.

Using your second strip of felt base, glue it on top of the feathers you just glued to other strip, ensuring no wicks are poking out of bottom.
This makes the crown soft to wear so no itchy feather wicks are poking into your childs head.

Once the felt base has dried it's time to flip it over and glue on your embelisments.

I chose a range of cute coloured roses to match the feathers and ribbon.

I glued them to the length of the base, leaving the first rose and last rose off, as I will be gluing these in the following step with the tassels.

I then cut out a small scalloped edging trim by hand out of glitter foam to match the feathers and glued this to edge of crown base.

Now it's time to add the tassle ribbons to the side.

Cut 6 x strips of ribbon approx 15cm long and place 3 on each side of base and glue.

On top of the ribbon ends on base of crown glue the remaining 2 roses.

Last but not least turn the crown over and glue to the underside, two more x 15cm length of ribbon to the back of crown base.

These two strips of ribbon are the ties to go around your child's head.

Now all that's left is to let it dry.

In only a short time your Boho Featival Kids crown will be ready !

Call you kid to try it on, go outside, and have some fun !!

My daughter couldn't have been happier with how it turned out and didn't take it off all afternoon.

It's a very rigid and solid design with the glue holding the structure perfectly.

You could also make these for a cute gift for a boho friend  or for party favours for that festival outdoor themed girls or boys party.

It really is a cute, simple easy homemade diy that anyone can create.

I hope you enjoyed this easy tutorial and have inspired you to make one of your own.

Happy crafting
